March Artist of the Month:
David C. Taylor: Opening reception Saturday, March 7th 4-6pm

Saturday, Feb 21st, March14th, March 21st, April 18th, April 25th

1:30-3:00. Altered book workshop with Jill Dolan. Talented local artist and friend of the store Jill Dolan will be doing an open workshop on how to create an art wish book. Jill is volunteering her time to help raise money for an art scholarship here at MSB. The class is free, but any donations will be used to pay for a needy child to participate in our arts based programing. BYOGS (bring your own glue stick!) Also, bring a book, and any materials you want to include (ribbons, shells, photos, etc..)

Author Reading and Publication party: Joanna Catherine Scott's "Child Of the South." Joanna is one of our all time favorite authors, and a great friend to the store. Come join us for the launch of her new novel, "Child of the South," a sequel to "The road from Chapel Hill." Pre-order your copy here.

Wednesday, April 15th
7:00 pm: Mother Daughter Bookclub. Mothers and Daughters (3rd grade-6th grade) read the same book, and then meet up to discuss. The book for April is Frindel by Andrew Clements. Order your copy here. For more information, please contact our book club liaison, Renne Raible.

  Open Mic featuring Kim Johnson.  Kim Johnson is a four-time Bay Area slam team member and two-time Individual World Poetry Slam competitor. She has toured the country performing poetry at various slam venues, schools, clubs, colleges and festivals. She is the author of two books of poetry entitled "Tongue Graffiti" and "No Soup Kitchens For Starving Artists" and currently works as a poet mentor for Youth Speaks San Francisco. 7:00PM: Author Event with Lauretta Hannon. You may be familliar with her comedy from NPR's All Things Considered (listen to excerpts here,) come and meet her as she talks about her book, The Cracker Queen.

tbd: Author Event for "Holy Smoke: the Big Book Of North Carolina Barbecque" by John Shelton Reed and Dale Volberg Reed (Tennesee natives that have made Chapel Hill their home since 1969). The Atlanta Constitution raves that this book is "part cultural history, part cookbook, Holy Smoke... may be the best tome ever written about pulled pork."

7pm Slam Poetry Open mic Slam poetry open mic, hosted by the Sacrificial Poets

10:30 a.m. Story Time!
- Kids of all ages are welcome each week for stories, laughter, and fun!

2nd Fridays of each month: 7pm American Girls Party. Enjoy a story about a favorite American girl, make a craft, and have refreshments. Age 6 and up. no fee or registrations required.

3rd Fridays of Each month: 7pm Pajama Story Time! Come in your PJ's for a bedtime story.

Saturdays

9-11 a.m. Clayworks Kids' Sculpture Class with Stephanie Dimac. $20, including materials. No registration required.
11-1p.m. Beadworks Kids' Beading class with Mrs. Suzanne. $20, including materials. No registration required.

2nd and 4th Saturdays:  2-6pm Live Watercolor Portraits with Barbara Keighton
